Maynor Contracting, LLC is led by Scott Maynor, a custom builder and remodeler with over 30 years of experience in construction and a reputation for steady, detail-oriented work. His background combines formal training, large-scale project experience and decades of residential building and remodeling across Tidewater Virginia.

Scott’s early foundation in construction began with mechanical drawing and drafting at York High School, followed by studies in college of interior design, space planning, and architecture at Radford University. He later completed the apprenticeship program at The Apprentice School, where he worked at Newport News Shipbuilding on complex, long-term construction projects in many of the facets of the construction process.

Over the course of 12 years in shipbuilding construction, Scott gained a full understanding of the construction process from start to finish due to his education and experience. His work included advanced planning, detailed planning, executing work packages and completing may projects from start to finish. During his time, he also spent five years in a supervisory role, managing crews and ensuring quality standards were met on demanding projects.

While working fulltime, Scott earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Averett University. That combination of real-world experience and business education continues to guide how he approaches projects today, with a focus on efficiency, accountability and clear communication. Scott often anecdotally states that with clear communication 95% of problems are avoided.

In 2006, Scott joined Wayne Harbin Builder, Inc. as an estimator in the Williamsburg area. In that role, he worked closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers and county officials to help manage new home construction projects from planning through completion. He handled material procurement, ordering, subcontracting, budgeting and permitting and working directly with local agencies to move projects forward without delays.

During his time there, he contributed to the completion of dozens of new custom and semi-custom homes each year and played a role in many of the companies large community projects, including the Ironbound Square Redevelopment work in James City County.

As the housing market shifted in 2008, Scott was selected to lead Home Enhancements, The Remodeling Division of Wayne Harbin Builder, Inc. as General Manager. Over the next 18 years, he has been involved in approximately 1,300 remodeling projects, ranging from everything including , but not limited to, kitchens, bathrooms, full home renovations, additions, garages, decks, patios, outdoor kitchens, windows, doors, siding, roofing, fireplaces and structural work such as elevating homes out of flood zones. His role covered the entire construction process, including, but not limited to, estimating, contracts, sales, scheduling, project management, supervision and client coordination.

In addition to remodeling and renovating homes throughout the Peninsula during this time, Scott completed multiple new construction homes in Gloucester, Mathews, and Middlesex, Virginia, including both custom homes and spec builds. His experience covers all phases of residential construction, from design-build planning and permitting to project execution and final inspection.

Today, Maynor Contracting focuses on residential new construction, home additions, renovations and remodeling projects. Scott takes a hands-on approach and intentionally limits the number of projects at any given time to ensure each client receives the consistent attention with reliable authentic communication and a finished product that reflects the standards he has and continues to build his career on.
